Resource: The Child in My Heart
About this resource:
“That man never grows old who keeps a child in his heart,” wrote Sir Richard Steele. Poet Kay Augustine now disagrees. Raised in rural Wisconsin, Kay came to Milwaukee for college and stayed. After raising her family, she taught ninth grade English in Milwaukee, an experience which convinced her that language usage prejudice is a harmful form of bigotry which still flies below the radar of all Americans except social linguists. In retirement, her favorite activities have been helping children find their singing voices and leading the singing of old songs with old people.
